James Gillespie's Campus

A phased redevelopment of an educational Campus for 3-18 year olds in Edinburgh, this complex project – Hub South East’s first DBFM – involved a new nursery, primary school extension, new high school buildings and the refurbishment of an A listed building.

With the phasing of the project, and that fact that at all times throughout the build, the school still operated on site, a detailed decant strategy and intricate timing of construction ensured normal school activities were not affected and the campus was delivered on time and within budget.

We worked closely with Hub South East to ensure that the school remained fully operational throughout the build of the new school campus. Flexibility and understanding from all involved have ensured that challenges were readily overcome.

We have a magnificent school. In fact it’s been so well received by pupils that despite being on exam leave, many of our senior pupils chose to come into the new building to study with friends rather than stay at home. And the functionality of the new spaces means that we can use the school for activities and events that wouldn’t have been possible before – broadening our learning opportunities for pupils.

Huge thanks to all who have contributed to building this incredible campus; a campus that elevates the environment for learning in the 21 century to spectacular new heights.
